First of all, then, I urge that supplications,
prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, 2 for
kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and
peaceable life in all godliness and dignity. –1 Timothy 2:1-2 (NRSV)
“Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute
you...”
–Matthew 6:44 (NRSV)

I would venture to guess that
there are a few leaders you know that you don’t care for. Maybe more than a few. What are you doing for them? As much as we may not like their views...and
they may be wrong about a lot, Jesus and Paul urge us to pray for them...and
not that they would meet with an unfortunate accident!
Maybe if we pray more for our leaders, they might begin
to see with different eyes...and be willing to work together...as they were
meant to. Pray similarly for a leader
you like...and one you don’t.
